A new “Bitcoin-friendly” manga was released in Japan in 2020. It will discuss the creation of BTC, taking some liberties with the story.

A Manga on the Genesis of Bitcoin

Japanese manga stands out for its ability to integrate all subjects and fields, so it was only a matter of time before a series attacked cryptocurrencies. It is now done since the Tokyo publisher Hakusensha has confirmed the release of a first manga on the theme of Bitcoin.

It was dubbed Genesis Code about the first block of BTC produced. The story takes place in 2009 when Bitcoin was launched. But the references to reality almost stop there. The story follows a hacker, Phantom Wolf, who participates in a contest to find a hostage. The winner of this competition will be able to receive 1 million Bitcoins.

To achieve his ends, Phantom Wolf will have to solve a mystery linked to the creation of Bitcoin – with perhaps an appearance of Satoshi Nakamoto, whose identity we still do not know despite his Japanese pseudonym. The publisher has released a trailer for the manga. The story does not seem to want to stand out, particularly from the classics of the genre, since it presents a talented young man who is helped by an army of pretty girls.

For subtlety and measure, we will come back, but it remains interesting to see that Bitcoin has reached enough fame with the general public to be now included in popular culture. However, in France, the subject remains little discussed, with the notable exception of a Bitcoin transaction in… Plus Belle La Vie, last year.
